A PASSION FOR REAL CASK ALES

When you relax with a drink at The Lister Arms, you’ll discover a well stocked bar serving the finest Thwaites cask ales and European bottled beers. Guests can sample the renowned Thwaites Original, Wainwright Golden Ale and Thwaites Lancaster Bomber, plus our guest ale Thwaites Nutty Black.

Thwaites Original – Order a pint of Thwaites Original and you can enjoy a beer that is as Original today as it was in 1807, when Daniel Thwaites himself began brewing. It is clean dry tasting and refreshing bitter with a glowing amber appearance. It is brewed using premium grade Maris Otter malt and a blend of traditional English Hops including Goldings and Fuggles to give a malty flavoured beer with a delicate dry finish.

Wainwright Ale – Alfred Wainwright, the renowned Lakeland author who was born in Blackburn, was once asked to describe his beloved Lake District, to which he replied ‘ exquisitely lovely’. Inspired by this, Thwaites created Wainwright golden ale, refreshing with a delicate citrus fruit flavour and subtle sweetness, and a Gold Award winner at the 2011 International Brewing Awards.

Thwaites Lancaster Bomber – this chestnut coloured beer is brewed using pale ale and crystal malt, which gives it a full-bodied flavour. A finely balanced hop character is enriched by the late addition of Styrian Goldings, as a dry hop in each cask to give a prominent floral hop aroma and warming aftertaste.

Thwaites Nutty Black - one of only four ales to ever win the Champion Beer of Britain twice! Daniel Thwaites uses only the finest dark kiln roasted malts, English barley and select fuggles and goldings hops to create this bittersweet dark mild with a deliciously dry finish.

SPOILT FOR CHOICE?

If you can’t decide which of our fantastic beers to sample first,  why not try our Thoroughly Thirds – a taster board of 3 x 1/3rd pints of our very best brews?

In addition, Head Brewer Steve Fielding, has created 13 seasonal beers (a brewer’s dozen) – which are brewed in small quantities and when they’re gone, they’re gone. We’ve listed the next few months below for you – we hope you enjoy drinking them as much as Steve and the team enjoyed creating them.

THE SIGNATURE RANGE

Inspired by the very chalkboards that promote our cask ales these new, occasional beers have been crafted using two hundred years of Lancashire brewing know-how and will be available to taste over 2012.

They complement our popular, easy drinking ales, such as Wainwright and Thwaites Lancaster Bomber but offer something new and interesting for the more discerning drinker.
