Local Info

As you drive towards The Lister Arms at Malham, you’re treated to some of the most breathtaking views and undulating green hills that appear to go on for miles. Narrow, twisty country roads and sleepy little villages give way to a big expanse of wide open space where all the hustle and bustle of everyday life is just forgotten.

The Lister Arms itself is nestled at the bottom of the picturesque Malham Cove, right in the heart of the idyllic village of Malham – the inspiration behind Charles Kingsley’s children’s novel ‘The Water Babies’ and many classic paintings by Turner. It is also home to some of the most spectacular limestone scenery in the country.

The Inn itself is very much a focal point of Malham, located directly opposite the village green and complete with creeping ivy and mounting block – once used by riders to gallantly climb aboard their horses.

Using The Lister Arms as a base, there is a wealth of attractions to go off and explore; and a number of walking routes which can be accessed using our walking route map. Some of our favourite places to explore including Malham Cove, Malham Tarn, Gordale Scar, Janet’s Foss and the beautiful market town of Skipton – just a stone’s throw away.

Of course, however you choose to spend your time; you won’t be disappointed as you have the whole of the Yorkshire Dales National Park literally in your back garden. We’re proud to call it home and we’re sure you’ll fall in love with this truly picture perfect part of Yorkshire.
